Marmaris Castle:

Situated just behind the Municipal Yacht Harbor in Marmaris, this historic fortress dates back before ancient times. It is said that Marmaris Castle was first built during the Ionian period (1044 BC), renovated during the reign of Alexander the Great and the walls were enlarged before the campaign for Rhodes in 1522 during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent.

The fortress cannonaded by the French navy in the 1st World War was heavily wounded in this battle. Restored between 1980 and 1990, the castle continues to serve as a museum since 1991.

The castle, overlooking the Marmaris Bay, evokes admiration with its spectacular view.

We strongly recommend you to see the works of Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods in the museum in Marmaris Castle.

Hafsa Sultan Caravanserai

Hafsa Sultan Caravanserai, one of the beautiful examples of Ottoman Architecture, is on a narrow road extending towards Marmaris Castle.

Caravanserai, which once was the accommodation and trade center for the Rhodes campaign, now serves as a café and souvenir shop.

In 1545 Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent had the Caravanserai built for his mother Valide Hafsa Sultan.

Tomb of Sarıana

The tomb, which was built in Ottoman architecture in memory of Sarıana, is located on the northeast side of Marmaris.

İbrahim Ağa Mosque

This historical mosque in Kemeraltı district was built in 1789. The great dome and impressive architecture of İbrahim Ağa mosque is worth seeing.

Park of Archeology

Park of Archeology in İyilik Rocks has spread over an area of 8.342 square meters and 2.100 square meters by the hill. Archeological ruins belonging to the 4th century BC are exhibited in the park.

Bedesten (Covered Bazaar)

Bedesten, located in the central market of Marmaris, still serves as a bazaar as it used to be.

Taşhan Kemerli (Arched) Bridge

Taşhan Kemerli Bridge located in the İskelebasi district 10 kilometers. from the Muğla road was built by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1552.

Halıcı Ahmet Urkay Museum

Halıcı Ahmet Urkay Museum, located on Muğla road, is 10 kilometers away from Marmaris. This special museum consists of two parts, ethnography and archeology.
